What is included in the Vienna PASS?

Updated September 18, 2026

Quick answer

Free entry to a list of Vienna attractions — 84 individual sight pages were published on the pass's own site when we counted them on 18 September 2026, against a marketing claim of "up to 90" — plus unlimited use of the hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses. Public transport is not included.

At this address the pass covers the Imperial Apartments and Sisi Museum, the Imperial Treasury, the Albertina, the Weltmuseum, the State Hall of the National Library and the Imperial Crypt, and it gets you standing room at the Spanish Riding School's morning exercise. It does not cover the Spanish Riding School performance, the Butterfly House, St Stephen's Cathedral or the U-Bahn. Whether it is worth buying comes down to how many paid sights you can genuinely visit in a day.

The imperial sights it covers

Everything the Hofburg sells separately is on the list, which is the pass's strongest case at this address. The pass's own sight pages quote each attraction's normal door price alongside the inclusion, and those prices are the numbers to do the arithmetic with.

  • Imperial Apartments and Sisi Museum — Free entry to the collections and exhibitions in the palace. The pass quotes the normal price as EUR 20 adult, EUR 12 child.
  • Imperial Treasury — Free entry plus fast-track. The pass quotes EUR 18 adult, children free.
  • Spanish Riding School — Free entry to the morning exercise only, and standing room only at that. The pass quotes EUR 17 adult, EUR 9 child. Performances are not covered.
  • Albertina — Listed among the included sights. Door price EUR 20.90 adult, under-19s free.
  • Weltmuseum Wien — Listed. Door price EUR 16 adult, under-19s free.
  • State Hall of the Austrian National Library — Listed on the pass as the Prunksaal.
  • Imperial Crypt — Listed. Door price EUR 15 adult, EUR 13 reduced.

The big non-imperial inclusions

Away from the palace, the list is led by Schönbrunn Palace, Schönbrunn Zoo and the Gloriette, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Natural History Museum, the Giant Ferris Wheel at the Prater, the Danube Tower, Madame Tussauds, the Leopold Museum, mumok, the MAK, Haus der Musik, Mozarthaus, the Sigmund Freud Museum and a Danube city cruise. Several sights outside the city are on it too, including Schloss Hof, Carnuntum, Klosterneuburg and Schloss Esterházy, plus a shuttle bus to the Parndorf outlet.

The hop-on hop-off bus

Unlimited travel on the sightseeing buses is bundled in, and the operator prices that product at EUR 53 on its own. For a visitor who intends to use it, that single inclusion is half the cost of a one-day pass. For anyone staying in the first district, where almost everything on this page is within a fifteen-minute walk, it is close to worthless. Be honest with yourself about which of those you are before you count it as value.

What it does not cover

Three exclusions catch people out repeatedly, and searches for all three are common enough that they deserve a plain answer.

  • Public transport — No U-Bahn, tram or bus. The pass and a transport ticket are separate purchases. That is the main difference from the Vienna City Card, which is a transport ticket with discounts attached.
  • St Stephen's Cathedral — Not on the list. The Dom Museum Wien is, but that is the cathedral's museum, not the cathedral, the towers or the catacombs.
  • The Butterfly House and Haus des Meeres — Neither appears among the pass's sight pages. Nor does Albertina Modern, although the main Albertina is included.

How many sights a day it takes to break even

Do the sum with real door prices rather than the advertised saving. An adult day at the Hofburg alone — palace day ticket EUR 20, Treasury EUR 18 at the door, Albertina EUR 20.90 — comes to EUR 58.90. Add the Weltmuseum at EUR 16 and the Imperial Crypt at EUR 15 and you are at EUR 89.90, which is roughly a one-day pass. That is five museums in one day, and it is a punishing schedule: the Treasury is closed on Tuesdays, the Weltmuseum on Mondays, and the palace's last admission is 16:30. If your realistic day is two or three of them, buy the tickets individually.

A note on the count

The pass advertises "up to 90 sights" for the Vienna PASS and "up to 70" for the FLEXI Pass. The sight list on the operator's site is rendered by JavaScript and does not show in full to a plain reader, so we counted the individual sight pages published in the site's own XML sitemap on 18 September 2026: 84. The gap between 84 and 90 is small and probably a matter of how bundled items are counted, but the number you can actually verify is 84.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Vienna PASS include public transport?

No. The hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses are included; the U-Bahn, trams and city buses are not. The Vienna City Card is the product that covers public transport.

Does it get me into a Spanish Riding School performance?

No. The pass's own page for the Spanish Riding School states free entry to the morning exercise, standing room only. Performances are a separate ticket, from EUR 26.

Is St Stephen's Cathedral included?

No. The cathedral does not appear on the pass's list of sights. The Dom Museum Wien does, but that is a different admission.

How many sights do I need to visit to break even?

At the Hofburg, roughly four to five paid museums in a single day. Fewer than that and individual tickets are cheaper.
